Did you go to summer school in junior high school?
No, I didn’t.
I didn’t go either. Summer school was just for kids who needed to redo classes.

To lean a new skill students sometimes to special classes after school or on weekends.
What kinds of classes did they take?
All kinds. Kids study things like typing, making robots and agriculture. Kids also learned about foreign cultures or how to communicate in silent language.
Sign language is very useful. And some people can’t hear and some people can’t speak. So they speak with their hands.

In the summer, some kids focused on getting better at particular sports, and attending special training camps. And kids could join a group called 4-H. 4-H is like boy scouts and girl scouts. The kids learned life skills. They learned by doing.
What does 4-H mean?
It means head, heart, hands and health. You need all 4 to learn.
