16 月 Lesson11 説明型 進行形

Hey, every one. This is Rosa Akino. And the start of another great week.
I hope you are wide awake. So let’s get started.

Did you finish your homework, Billy?
Not yet, I’m getting hungry, Mom. What’s for dinner?
Pork curry and rice. It’s your favorite. But first you have to finish your homework.
I can’t wait that long! It will take another two or three hours to finish it.
Well, then you’ll be really hungry at dinner, won’t you?
Mom!

Chris, “I’m getting hungry.” does this sentence have a very different rhythm from “We are happy.”
Well, it certainly looks different. Because we have the progressive getting here, but you know the best way to look at this is that it is exactly the same rhythm and pattern as “We are happy.” “I’m getting hungry.” We’v got I getting hungry, we happy. This balance and this rhythm is what is important.

get hungry お腹が空く
favorite 好物
that long そんなに長く
it takes 時間 to do するのに-時間がかかる

宿題は終わったの, ビリー?
まだだよ. おなかがすいてきたよ, 母さん夕食は何?
ポークカレーライス. あなたの大好物よ. でも, まずは宿題を終えないとね
そんなに長く待てないよ!終えるのにあと2〜3時間はかかるんだ.
あら, だったら夕食のときは, 十分におなかがすいているんじゃないかしら?
母さん!

+Real grammar for communication.
I’m getting hungry.
The girl is singing.
The girl singing at the moment is my sister.

+GRAMMAR IN ACTION
1). 男の子にキスされて彼女赤くなってるよ!
A boy kissed her and now she’s blushing!
blush「赤面する」.
She was kissed by a boy.
〜ので、
since, as, because でも可能
and そして、

Chris, can you explain the verb, blush?
No, I can’t. Because I’ve never blushed in my life.
But actually, blush. It’s what happens, when you get really embarrassed like in this situation. ]so it means basically that your face goes red, or turns red.

そんな顔しないの!赤ちゃんを怖がらせているよ
Stop making those faces! You’re frightening the baby.
stopが目的語として動詞-ing形をとって「〜するのをやめる」.
frightenは「怖がらせる」ですよ.

Rosa, can you give me an alternative for stop making those faces?
Sure. You could say, don’t make those faces, or don’t do that. Can you think of anything, Cris?
Yeah, I think maybe we could also say, That’s enough for those faces.

frighting,
Chris, can you think of any other words?
Actually the only one I can think of is scaring. Like you’re scaring the baby.

3). すごく寒くて, みんな震えてくしゃみをしていました.
It was freezing, we were all shivering and sneezing.

freezing freeze(凍らせる)に-ingが加わった形容詞「凍らせるような=とても寒い」
進行形ではありません.

shiver(震える), sneeze(くしゃみをする)

Chis, progress sentences are not very tough, right?
No, absolutely not. I think there are, or we would call a piece of cake. The main thing is you don’t have to worry about learning and new complicated patterns, just remember the simple, basic pattern we happy, Rosa?
I agree with everything you just said.
That’s the first time. That happens.
And the last.
