Nissen says, “History shows that the darkest hours can be made a little brighter with some well-timed levity.”
Ueda tells Alvarez that there’s only so much she can do for a friend who doesn’t have a sense of humor. Lyons says he tries to focus on positive things. And Nissen suggests that Alvarez’s friend may have lost touch with her inner child. Lyons says he likes to put up funny cartoons and posters in his work area as a reminder to be cheerful.

But don’t sweat it. There’s only so much you can do for someone who doesn’t seem to have a funny bone. It takes all kinds of people to make a world, you know.
Alvarez:
I just wish I could get her to laugh at herself sometimes. I think that would help her be a happier person.
