It’s almost the end of the year.
And the beginning of a new one.
Q1: Who visited Everglades National Park?
-Mon
A trip to Florida? Lucky you.
How far is it to Florida? I don’t know much about it.
It’s all the way down south.
My cousins visited Everglades National Park. They saw many kinds of birds and wild animals. Some of them are very rare.
Hmm. It sounds wonderful. But I wanted to hang out with you during winter vacation.
Really?
I think going to Florida is better. We can hang out after school starts.
I know, but….
A1: David’s cousins did.
Q2: What is the most popular event at the alligator farm?
-Tue
How long is the flight to Miami?
It takes about three hours from New York. That’s about ten hours quicker than flying to Japan.
Don’t talk about Japan now. Let’s enjoy our vacation.
Yeah. After we land in Miami, we will rent a car and drive to Everglades National Park. We will visit this alligator farm.
Wow! It says, “The alligator show is the most popular event.”
We can even hold a baby alligator!
A2: The alligator show is.
Q3: Does Tatsuo want to relax on the beach or go on a boat tour tomorrow?
-Wed
Look at that emerald-green water.
The white sand beach is just beautiful.
Yeah. How about going on this boat tour tomorrow? We can see dolphins, sea turtles, pelicans, and even alligators. The guide will also teach us about local plants.
Sounds fantastic. Let’s do that.
How much does it cost?
It’s $100 each. I’ll make a reservation.
Let’s check out the other tours first. Maybe there is a cheaper one.
A3: He wants to go on a boat tour.

-What is special about Everglades National Park?
Everglades National Park is one of the biggest national parks in the U.S.
It’s huge. It’s the same size as Yamaguchi prefecture.
The area is a wet land. That means there is a lot of water everywhere, like a swamp.
It’s pretty hot and humid there all year round.
And some animals and plants can only live in this type of weather. The most famous animals are alligators, panthers and turtles.
And don’t forget manatees. They’re so cute.
I agree. Did you know that manatees are awesome known as seacows . They mostly eat sea grasses, and fresh vegetation.
It is sad to know manatees are endangered species.
And that is why the park is trying to protect them.

Did you ever go to the Everglades, Sam?
No, but I went to Florida. How about you, Geoff?
I never went there. But I definitely wanna go. They have so many plants and animals I wanna see. Sometimes mango trees grow so close together that they blocked up the sky. Also many different kinds of birds live in those trees.
Yeah.
