Elaborate, luxurious and sometimes expensive. Having decoration, not plain or ordinary. For example, kings and queens used to wear fancy clothes with fancy jewelry. It must have taken a long time to make those things.
gadget 小道具、気の利いた器具
A gadget is a tool or small device, often electrical. They may not be essential but they provide a benefit. Ms. Khoo spoke about kitchen gadgets. These could include things like electronic mixers, special slicers, pepper grinders and more.
prevail 勝る
Proving to be more powerful or superior. To continue to do something despite challenges. To continue to exist. Mr. Shibata said that passion for food prevailed in the end showing how Ms. Khoo overcame the challenges of a smaller kitchen and still continued to make good food.
