Hey, guys. Rosa Akino here. Mmm, you know, ever since yesterday’s lesson, I’ve been trying to figure out which one of you two I like better? It’s a hard decision.
Hi, everyone, Chris McVay here. Rosa, I’m sure you love us both.
That’s right.

Tony, did you hear the news this morning?
No, Tess. What news?
The statue in front of the station fell down.
What? I love that statue. What do you think was the cause?
Nobody knows yet. But it was very old.
Was anybody hurt?
Luckily, no one was injured. They said it happened in the middle of the night.
You know, I was taking photographs of that statue just last week. I’m glad I got some photos of it before it fell down.
– What do you think was the cause?
So can you tell me where the gap in this sentence is?
Of course. It’s just before was. It’s the subject. It was, right?
That’s right. How many times are you going to ask this?

they say(that)〜だそうだ

The statue in front of the station fell down.
in front of(〜の前)、場所 beforeは順序や時間的な「前」。
Nobody knows yet.
Luckily、no one was injured.

What do you think was the cause?
What (do you think) was the cause?

Who do you think will pass the test?

Which student do you think will win the speech contest?

suggest, establish, startup
establish = organize = arrange = creat
So what is the nuance of this verb, establish?
For me the nuance of establish is, kind of, like constructing the building from the bottom, brick by brick by brick.
Listen! If you look at the word, you have establ, right, which means stable. So it’s something solid, heavy, therefore stable.

Keep your eyes open for, where is the gap? Or as they say in London underground, mind the gap, mind the gap.
That will help you create such sentences much more easily, Rosa?
Exactly. You know, if you don’t mind the gap, you’ll fall in. So you don’t want to do that. You wanna to be aware where exactly the gap is?
Exactly.
