Hey, guys. This is Rosa Akino. Wow! It’s our first review of the new year.
That’s right, Rosa. Hi, everyone. Chris McVay here. So let’s get down to the review.

The guy you were talking to is my boyfriend.
Hi, nice weather we’re having.
Huh? Oh, yeah, it’s not so cold today.
So, do you come here often?
Yeah, I come here almost every day.
Really? So do I. It’s funny that I never noticed you before such a beautiful young lady as yourself.
Well, thanks.
The guy making the coffee is kind of weird, though. I was telling him that he was too slow, and he said I needed to be more patient. Can you imagine the nerve?
The guy you were talking to is my boyfriend.
Oh, I see. Well, enjoy your day.

The car I want to get is user-friendly.
Look at all these new cars. Some of the designs are so futuristic-looking.
I know, but these are concept cars. The car I want to get is user-friendly. It can park itself.
Oh, that’s a feature that I need. I’m terrible at parallel parking.
I haven’t owned a car in over twenty years. I have been using public transportation all that time.
Did you forget how to drive?
Almost. When I rented a car, I didn’t even know how to turn on the engine. Things have changed a lot.
They sure have.

L183
This is everything that I have.
Takeru, you got a lot of money from your relatives on New Year’s, didn’t you?
Compared to last year, it was about the same.
Really? Show me how much you’ve got. I want to save your money as usual, so you don’t waste it on silly things.
OK, here you go, Mom.
Is this all?
This is everything that I have.
Are you sure? You usually get more than this.
Yes, I already spent some on a new video game.
What? You should have asked me first.
Sorry, Mom.

The woman that lives next door is an English teacher.
Did you hear someone in the apartment building singing late last night?
Yes, I think I heard a woman singing “Yesterday Once More” by the Carpenters. She was very good. But it was kind of loud.
The woman that lives next door is an English teacher. Maybe it was her practicing her pronunciation.
Oh, that’s possible. It’s very easy to understand each word of the Carpenters’ songs. That’s good for students studying English.
I agree, but I couldn’t sleep very well last night. Maybe we can ask her to go to karaoke with us someday.
That’s a good idea.

So, guys. I want you to remember something that Chris said earlier this week, which is all about perception. If you think it will be easy that it will be easy.
Excellent point, Rosa. We often say, “You should practice these sentences out loud. So imagine the situation first, so you don’t speak the sentences like a robot. Right, say them all with feeling. That’s important.

-Okay, guys. Here comes my simple answer.
Hey, this is the book my teacher wrote. He traveled around the world and did a lot of research on people that still keep their traditional culture. Just take a look

keep their traditional culture
= keep their traditional culture alive, maintain their traditional culture.

-Okay, guys. Here is my version.
Hi! Check this out. It’s the book my teacher wrote. He visited countries all around the globe, collecting fascinating information on traditional cultures. You can borrow it if you like.

You know, I really hope that all of our listeners can get to the point where they practiced so much that all of this comes out naturally.
That’s a good go. So keep up a good work, guys.
That’s right. And keep listening to our show everyday.
