今月は immersive technology をいくつか取り上げましたが、今週の対話カラオケに備えて、 2つの技術、 VRとAR につい
ておさらいをしましょう。
We covered some immersive technologies this month, but in preparation for this week’s interactive karaoke, let’s review two technologies: VR and AR.

VR は先週の対話カラオケにも登場したとおり、ヘッドセットを装着して別の場所へ旅をするといった体験ができる技術です。
VR is a technology that allows you to wear a headset and travel to another place, as it appeared in last week’s dialogue karaoke.
例えば、映像を見ながら「西郷隆盛に会うために幕末の薩摩藩に出かける」といった体験ができます。
For example, while watching a video, you can have the experience of going to the Satsuma domain at the end of the Edo period to meet Takamori Saigo.
それに対してAR は、特殊なめがねやスマホなどを使って現実世界と CG を重ね合わせる技術で、「自分が今いる場所に西郷隆盛を出現させる」といった感じです。
AR, on the other hand, is a technology that uses special glasses and smartphones to superimpose the real world and CG.
後者が一般的になれば、オンライン英会話などでもAR のめがねをつけて自分の部屋に海外の講師を出現させ、アットホームなレッスンができるようになるでしょう。
If the latter becomes commonplace, it will be possible to put on AR glasses and have overseas teachers appear in your room, even in online English conversation, so that you can have lessons at home.
「世界の都市めぐり」の締めくくりとなる今週の対話カラオケでもAR の技術を使います。
AR technology will also be used in this week’s dialogue karaoke, which concludes the “world city tour”.
