when to use people and when to use persons
both of these are accepted plural forms of person
most of the time we use people
There were five people in the park.
There are lots of annoying people on twitter.
It would sound very strange if we said
there were five persons in the park.
“Persons” is basically only used in formal legal contexts.
Some common expressions include persons of interest 指名手配者
and missing persons. 行方不明者
Three persons of interest are currently being interviewed by the police.
“Persons “is also sometimes used on signs
in an elevator you might see
“Maximum six persons at a time”
