BBC Learning English -‘remember to do’ VS ‘remember doing’ – what’s the difference?

What's the difference?
We use remember to do to talk about things we need to do.
First we remember, thne do the action.

Remember to lock the door!
I will.

We use remember doing something to talk about our memories of things that happened in the past.

I remember locking the door this morning.
I remember arriving at the BBC on my first day at work.
A few years ago.

What do you need to remember to do today?
What's your first memory?
What do you remember doing?
