Japan has successfully launched its flagship H3 rocket. The launch marks a starting point for enhancing Japan’s presence in the increasingly competitive space business.

The joint project between the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. began in 2014. Development of the main engine proved difficult and the launch of the first vehicle was delayed until March last year. However, the second-stage engine failed to ignite and it ended in failure. With the latest launch, the project has finally emerged from the tunnel.
