Topic 4: Do you think video games are a waste of time? Day 4.
All right. Today, let’s talk about things you do in your free time. In Iceland, what do junior high and high school students like to do in their free time?
I think a lot of students in Iceland are involved either in arts mostly music or in sports. I think many Icelandic junior high school and high school students play one musical instrument growing up.
Uh-huh.
And a lot of them also play sports.
Wow, interesting.
What did you do in high school?
I was involved in the arts. I was making videos. I was involved in theater productions. And I was also involved in making newspapers and magazines.
Oh, nice!
Did you make these productions with your school or independently, you and your friends?
So, these activities are mostly in the school.
Okay.
But they’re organized by the students themselves.
Oh.
So, there are actually no teachers around us.
Wow!
When it’s the students organizing themselves, you learn a lot about how to organize, how to be involved, how to communicate and work together and build something.
Yeah. Wow.
That must be so great for the students.
You learn from experiences.
Exactly.
Terrific.
