TOKYO — The Tokyo High Court ordered Waseda University and a former professor to pay a total of 990,000 yen (some $6,600) in an appeal trial of a lawsuit filed by a 33-year-old woman claiming to have been sexually harassed during her time as a student.

Poet Rena Fukazawa demanded the university and Noami Watanabe, a literary critic and ex-professor at the university’s graduate school, pay her 6.6 million yen (roughly $43,900) in damages for sexual harassment by Watanabe. The ruling handed down by Presiding Judge Miroru Masuda increased the amount of compensation awarded in the initial Tokyo District Court decision in April 2023 by about 400,000 yen.

東京 — 東京高等裁判所は、学生時代にセクハラを受けたとして33歳の女性が起こした訴訟の控訴審で、早稲田大学と元教授に計99万円の支払いを命じた。

詩人の深沢麗奈さんは、同大学と文芸評論家で同大学院の元教授である渡辺乃亜美氏に対し、渡辺氏からセクハラを受けたとして660万円（約4万3900ドル）の損害賠償を求めた。増田稔裁判長が下した判決は、2023年4月の東京地裁の初判決で認められた賠償額を約40万円増額した。
