「残念です」 shame 「残念なこと、 悲しいこと」

がっかりしたときや、 残念な話を聞いたときに使いますよ。(It is used when you are disappointed or hear a sad story.)
たとえば、あしたはキャンプに行く予定なのに、 It’s going to rain tomorrow. と言われたとき、
Oh, no! That’s a shame. と返事をするイメージです。
That’s too bad. も同じように使います。
会話の中で相づちのように使うことも多いです。 ちょっとした話でも、 深刻な話でも使える便利なフレーズですよ。(It is often used like an adzuchi in conversation. It’s a useful phrase that can be used in both small and serious conversations.)
