そうですね。 classic は 「代表的な」 や 「一流の」という意味もあります。 ストーリーに登場した classic monstersは 「代表的なモンスター」というニュアンスです。
たとえば、 That’s a classic song. 「それは名曲だ」という感じ
ちなみに、 「クラシック音楽」と言いたいときには、classic music ではなく classical music
