citrus [sítrəs] 「かんきつ類」、farmer「農家、農業従事者」
citrus 名詞としても形容詞としても使います。「かんきつ類の果実」citrus fruit、「かんきつ類の木」ならcitrus tree
western Japan「西日本」
gear up for -,「～に備えて準備する」
ear up「ギアを高速にして気合いを入れて準備を整える」、名詞としてのgear「ギア、歯車、用具一式」
busy season 「繁忙期、農繁期、書き入れ時」
harvest「収穫する」動詞verb、名詞noun「収穫」
famed「有名な、名高い」
famousとほぼ同じ使い方ができますが、famedには、単に名が知られているだけでなく高く評価されているというニュアンスが加わります。
ゆずは英語でもそのままyuzuですが、なじみがない人のためにyuzu fruitと、それが果実であることを表しています。
gain popularity「人気を得る、好評を博する」
徳島県那賀町特産の「木頭ゆず」の収穫が始まりました。木頭ゆずは、全国に出荷されるほか、海外にも輸出されています。(Harvesting of Kito Yuzu, a specialty of Naka Town, Tokushima Prefecture, has begun. Kito Yuzu is shipped all over the country and is also exported overseas.)
company「会社」、具体的には木頭ゆずを栽培する農業法人（agricultural company）
grow「栽培する、育てる」
crop「作物」
with「～（という特性）を持っている」
temperature range「温度の変動幅、領域、範囲」、wide temperature range「気温の変化が大きい」
lots of -「たくさんの」で、数えられる名詞にも数えられない名詞にも使えます。a lot of でも言い換えられます。
rainfall「雨量」、一般的には数えられない名詞ですが、
The city recorded a rainfall of 10 millimeters in one hour.「その都市は１時間に１０ミリの雨量を記録した」のように具体的に説明するときは数えられる名詞になります。
precipitation「降水量」雨だけでなく雪なども含みます。
… than usual「いつもより～」後半のusualの方は「通常の、いつもどおりの」
meaning = which means
「つまり、ということは」です。その後にsmaller yuzu「より小さいゆず」とだけ言っているのは唐突ではありますが、meaning の後にthe grower is seeingやtrees are producingなどを補足して
meaning the grower is seeing smaller yuzu.
meaning trees are producingsmaller yuzu.
still「それでも」
動詞としての ship「出荷する」
for the year「年間で、その年は」
