How to be 「自然」 in English?

自分の日本語が自然に聞こえるように僕が気をつけているのが敬語。
(I try to use honorifics so that my Japanese sounds natural.)
日本語では敬語がないと不自然なときがありますよね。
(In Japanese, there are times when it feels unnatural without honorifics.)
例えば、 「さん」付け。「娘はどこ?」 と聞いたら、 「会話の相手の娘さん」 ではなく、「自分の娘」 を探しているように聞こえませんか?
そんなトリッキーな敬語ですが、 よく使うからこそ制覇すべきだと思いました。
(It’s such a tricky honorific, but I thought it should be conquered because it’s used so often.)

皆さんの英語が自然になるように制覇してほしいのが基本動詞の活用、 そして前置詞や副詞とセットにした句動詞。
(To make your English sound natural, I would like you to master the conjugation of basic verbs, and phrasal verbs combined with prepositions and adverbs.)
今回はよく使う3つを取り上げました。 「迎えに行く」はpick (人) up、 「(車から) 降ろす」 なら drop (人) off、 そして 「連れていく/送る」 は take (人) to
(場所)です。人や人称代名詞のme や you はよく動詞と副詞の間に入ります。 これが少しややこしいかもしれませんね
(The person and personal pronouns me and you are often placed between verbs and adverbs. this might be a little confusing)

句動詞は「勉強」ではなく「練習」で制覇する!
日本ほど英語の試験対策に特化した参考書の多い国は、ほかにないでしょう。 句動詞の本もよく見かけますが、 これは試験でよく出題されるのが理由のひとつだと思います。

試験で高得点を取ることや表現の理解が目的で終わってしまっては、長い目で見て自分のためにはなりません。 肝心のスピーキングの場面ではなかなか言葉が出てこないのでは?
(If the goal is to get a high score in the exam or to understand expressions, it will not be good for you in the long run. Is it difficult to come up with words in the important speaking scene?)
今回練習したように、句動詞はよく使うものだけに厳選して実践練習するのがおすすめ。 日本語からスタートして、言いたいことを英語で表してみよう!
(As we practiced this time, it is recommended to carefully select and practice only the phrasal verbs that you use frequently. Start with Japanese and express what you want to say in English!)
