アメリカで雄弁な人のいる地域はどこだと思いますか?
(Where do you imagine the most eloquent people in America are?)
どの地域にも、その地域ならではの雄弁さがあるものです。 僕が思うに、 南部は北部と比べてやや口数が少なく、 話す速度もゆっくりですが、 その分ひとつひとつに言葉の重みがあると感じます。
(Every region has its own eloquence. In my opinion, people in the south are a little less talkative than in the north, and they speak more slowly, but I feel that each and every word carries weight.)

僕のおじも新聞社に勤めた典型的な南部の雄弁な人でした。とても思い出深いです。 そして、 難解な動詞を使うのも南部の特徴。 (My uncle was also a typical Southern eloquent who worked for a newspaper. Very memorable. Another characteristic of the South is the use of difficult verbs.)
「疲れている」 を tired の代わりに tuckered out と言ったり、 「思う」 を think の代わりに reckon と言ったりします。 ただ、 残念なことに最近はインターネットやSNSの普及によって地域独特の会話文化が薄くなってきているかもしれません。 日本でも、地域ごとに会話文化の違いはありますか?
(Unfortunately, due to the spread of the Internet and SNS, the unique local conversation culture may be fading. Are there regional differences in conversational culture in Japan as well?)

Actually, my dad is from Oklahoma. When he was on the phone with his relatives, I often heard his accent.
