1). 相手に待っていてほしいときの Hang on.
Dialogue
テルマとエミリーが話していると、 テルマの電話が鳴りました。

Hi, Shawn. What’s up? Oh. Oh, no. Hang on. I’ll be right there.

待っててね。
ショーンからの電話を受けたテルマ。 なんとショーンは彼女にフラれちやったみたいです。 しょげているショーンを励まそうと、 テルマは今すぐショーンのところに行こうと思います。
(Thelma receives a call from Shawn. Sean seems to have dumped her. She wants to cheer up a depressed Sean, and Thelma wants to go see Shawn right now.)

テルマ、先生とかわってくれる？

2). 「ちょっと待った」 と相手を制止するときの Hang on.
Emily and Paul are having a fight with someone they know. And that person has been saying mean things about Emily behind her back.
