Emily and Thelma are at their usual cafe. Emily spots Olivia in the far corner.
エミリーとテルマはいつものカフェにいます。エミリーがカフェの奥のほうにオリビアを発見。
(Emily and Thelma are at their usual cafe. Emily finds Olivia in the back of the cafe.)

彼女は泣いてるんじゃないかな。

カフェの奥にオリビアを見つけたエミリーがあいさつに行こうとします。ところが、見たところオリビアはなんだか泣いているようにテルマには思えました。
(Emily finds Olivia in the back of the cafe and goes to say hello. However, she seemed to Thelma that Olivia was crying somehow.)
そこで、「見た感じ･･･みたいだ」というキモチで It looks likeと言っています。 It looks like… は seem より視覚的な情報から推測する場合によく用い、 likeのあとは文の要素(=節) が来ます。文の要素(=節)をとっているので、この like は接続詞の働きをしています。
