♪Topic 5: Where do you like to sit in class? Day 3.
Yesterday, we talked about places you can sit, not just in your classroom but almost anywhere.
Mm-hmm. For example, you could say, “I like to sit in the first row.” Riku, if you like to sit in the middle, what could you say?
I like to sit at the middle.
Ah, okay. Remember “in the middle.”
In the middle.
“I like to sit in the middle.” So, we don’t use “at” with “the middle.”
Okay.
You can remember many of these expressions as sets or pairs or opposites. Riku, what is the opposite of the word “front”?
What is “opposite”?
Ah, okay. Here’s an example. The opposite of “big” is “small.”
Or the opposite of “fast” is “slow.”
So, once again. Riku, what is the opposite of the word “front”?
“Back.”
Great!
That’s right! The opposite of “front” is “back.” So, you could say, “I like to sit at the back.”
I like to sit at the back.
That’s great. Riku, do you know one reason why I like doing this radio show?
Mmm. I don’t know.
I’ll tell you. Because I like to sit next to you and Hannah and have a nice chat together.
Oh, that’s nice.
Me too!
Okay. Let’s listen to this week’s dialogue.
Mika and Rumi are having a conversation in a bus.
