sake、英語でも「日本酒」を指す言葉として知られるようになっています。
アメリカでは日本酒の人気の高まりを背景に酒蔵の新設が相次いでいて、有力紙ニューヨーク・タイムズは“SAKE”ブームが起きていると伝えています。
(In the United States, new sake breweries are being built one after another due to the increasing popularity of sake, and the influential New York Times reports that a “SAKE” boom is occurring.)

その日本酒の原料は、最初は日本から輸入した米を使うものの、将来的にはアメリカ産の原料にこだわって、米の生産が盛んな南部アーカンソー州産の酒米を使用するということです。

アメリカでは今年５月にもアーカンソー州で地元の企業が大規模な酒蔵をオープンするなど、酒蔵の新設が相次いでいます。業界団体によりますと酒蔵の数は２０を超えているということです。
