今月の訪問地, カナダ Canada
北米大陸の北部に位置し、 世界第2位の面積を誇る国。 国名は 「集落」を意味する先住民の言葉に由来すると言われる。 主要都市として首都のオタワ、トロント、モントリオールなどが知られる。 英語に加えてフランス語も公用語に制定されており、 メープルシロップ産地の1つケベック州では特にフランス語話者が多い。 多文化主義、 平等主義を推進し、移民や難民を積極的に受け入れる自由な国としても名高い。
(Located in the northern part of the North American continent, it is the second largest country in the world. The country’s name is said to be derived from an indigenous word meaning “village”. Major cities include the capital Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal. In addition to English, French is also an official language, and there are especially many French speakers in Quebec, one of the provinces that produce maple syrup. It is also known as a free country that promotes multiculturalism and egalitarianism and actively accepts immigrants and refugees.)
