日本の国技は相撲ですか? それとも野球ですか? 日本ではプロ野球だけでなく高校野球も人気ですよね。 (Is Japan’s national sport sumo or baseball? In Japan, high school baseball is popular as well as professional baseball.) 特に春と夏の全国大会は、ふだん野球観戦をしない人にとっても盛り上がる話題かもしれません。 高校野球でも全国でNHKの生中継があるのを知って、 僕は驚きました。(The spring and summer national tournaments in particular may be a hot topic even for people who don’t usually watch baseball games. I was surprised to learn that high school baseball is being broadcast live on NHK nationwide.)

ちなみに、アメリカで人気なのはダントツでアメフト。 多くのアメリカのテレビでは、 金曜日には高校生、 土曜日には大学生、 日曜日にはプロのアメフトの試合を中継します。(By the way, American football is by far the most popular in America. Many American television shows high school football on Fridays, college on Saturdays, and professional football on Sundays.)
金曜から日曜までアメフトの話題で持ちきり、 という家庭もきっとあることでしょう。 (I’m sure there are families who talk about football from Friday to Sunday.) 僕は日本でよく野球の話や質問をするようにしていますが、皆さんはアメフトに興味を持って質問したり話したりしてみるとよいかもしれません。(In Japan, I often talk about baseball and ask questions, but it might be a good idea for you to ask questions and talk about American football if you are interested.)
