24/01/02 Rachel English – Is she gonna be here soon? 🤔

There’s a mistake I’ve noticed.
Some students making sometimes with the word, ‘gonn’.
Now I love it, when my students use reductions in spoken English.
Is she gonna be here soon?
It’s very smooth and natural.
But if they respond, “She gonna be here soon.”
Then something’s wrong, and it’s the word ‘is’.
So in the question it’s at the beginning:
Is she gonna be here soon?
But you can’t leave it out of the statement.
She gonna be here soon.
We still need ‘is’:
She’s, she’s, she’s.
Now apostrophe S, it’s just a quick Z sound at the end:
She’s gonna, she’s gonna,
she’s gonna be here soon.
as the statement, but we still need that little Z sound for the sentence to be grammatically correct.
We cannot leave it out.
She’s gonna be here soon.
Is she gonna be here soon?
She’s gonna be here soon.
