Veronika_language diaries – All language learners struggle with this

As language learners
we’ve all been there
We start talking to a native speakers
and then they use an expression we don’t know
and it confuses us so much
This actually happened to me a few weeks ago,
when I had a conversation with a taxi driver in Spanish
He said, “How cool that you decided to live here in Mexico.
and I thought he was talking about my dad
This experience taught me two things.
First native speakers are more than happy to explain everything to you.
The taxi driver sensed that I was struggling with comprehension,
and he explained to me in simple words
that A means B
or C
like
How cool!
How amazing!
Second, mistakes are how we learn
now I’m pretty sure I will never forget this expression in Spanish.
