The World: Israel’s other war
Good morning, world. I’m Alicia, the editor of this newsletter. Your regular host, Katrin, is on holiday. She stuck around to write this edition, which is about Israel’s war in Lebanon, but I’ll be filling in for the rest of this week.
At the moment, Israel is expanding its ground invasion, in what many Lebanese fear could lead to an occupation, using tactics that for some have been strikingly reminiscent of those used in the war in Gaza.
President Trump’s efforts to negotiate with Iran have been dominating headlines. But it’s not clear whether those negotiations will factor in Lebanon, or whether Israel’s war within a war will endure beyond the broader conflict. — Alicia P.Q. Wittmeyer
