said とクォーテーションマーク (“”) を使った書き方
A said, “~”
A said to B, “~”
2つの形を紹介しました。
だれかが言ったことをそのまま伝える形は、物語文などでよく使われます。そこで今回は、物語などでよく見かける形を2つ紹介します。(This form, which conveys exactly what someone has said, is often used in narrative texts. So this time, I would like to introduce two shapes that are often seen in stories.)

最初にクォーテーションマークを使って言ったことばをそのまま書き、そのあとにだれが言ったのかを示します。クォーテーションマークの中の文の最後は、ピリオドではなくカンマを打ちます。
(Start by writing exactly what is said using quotation marks, then indicate who said it. At the end of a sentence inside quotation marks, use a comma instead of a period.)

クォーテーションマークの、だれが言ったの部分のあとの語順が [動詞+主語] となる場合があります。
(The word order after the “Who said” part of the quotation mark may be [verb + subject].)

標識に、「キツネに注意」と書いてありました。
英文を書く場合、書かれていたことや言ったことはクォーテーションマークの中にそのまま入れて表します。
(When writing in English, what is written or said is expressed by putting it inside quotation marks.)

あなたがキャプテンを務めるバスケットボール部が、先日、大会で優勝しました。
(The basketball team, of which you are the captain, won the tournament the other day.)
決勝戦の前、コーチがあなたたちにこんなことを言っていました。
(Before the finals, your coach said this to you guys.)
