♪Topic 13: Should older students get special treatment? Day 4.
All right, then. Before we get into this week’s topic, let us introduce our guest for October and November.
Hello, I’m Alexander Carbonaro. Please call me Nero.
Nero, nice to meet you!
Welcome, Nero!
Nice to meet you!
Nice to meet you, too.
Nero, please tell us a little about yourself.
I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I am a model and also part-time English teacher here in Tokyo.
Nice.
In my free time, I like to go to cafés and drink a lot of coffee.
So, Nero, you said you are from Australia. Did you grow up and live your life in Australia before Japan?
Yes. I lived in Australia until I was 15 years old. And then from 15 to 30, I lived in Europe.
Wow. Tell us about your time in Europe. Which countries did you live in?
I lived in Switzerland, the Netherlands – Holland – and France.
Wow.
Nice.
Holland, Oranda?
Yes. Holland.
The Netherlands is another name for Holland.
Which country did you live in the longest in Europe?
I lived in the Netherlands the longest. About nine years.
Wow. That’s a long time.
Yes. What is the best place to visit in the Netherlands?
Mm. That’s a hard question. There are many good places, but maybe what I would recommend for a student, like Riku, is Kinderdijk.
Kinderdijk.
Kinderdijk is close to Rotterdam, and it is famous for its many windmills.
Windmills.
That makes me think of Holland, yes.
Very Dutch, right?
Yes.
Nice.
You can ride your bike and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Wow.
That sounds great.
Is the weather very nice?
Um, in the spring and summer, yes. But maybe in the winter, it isn’t the best place to visit.
Oh, no.
There’s too much rain and wind.
Oh, dear.
