皆さん、こんにちは。 今年度の講座も折り返し地点を過ぎて後半戦に入りましたが、いかがでしょうか。
さて、今月のビジネスシーンは、主人公の理沙がロンドン出張から東京に戻り、上司のロンにその報告をする場面が中心です。とはいっても、単なる報告ではなく、 そこから今後の戦略に議論が発展します。理沙はどのように考え、それをどう表現しているのか、 自分だったらどんな意見を言うか、といったことを考えながら聞いてみてください。
(Hello everyone. This year’s course has passed the halfway point and entered the second half.
In this month’s business scene, the main character, Risa, returns to Tokyo from her business trip to London and reports to her boss, Ron. However, it is not a mere report, and the discussion develops into future strategies from there. How does Risa think?)

ロンの立場で考えてみるのもおもしろいかもしれませんね。 最後の2回は、東京・神楽坂にあるフランス料理店のパスカルを訪ねる場面です。種明かしをすると、 今後のストーリー展開にも影響してくる名場面(!?)ですので、じっくり耳を傾けてみてください。
(It might be interesting to think about it from Ron’s point of view. The last two episodes are scenes of visiting Pascal, a French restaurant in Kagurazaka, Tokyo. If you reveal the details, it’s a famous scene (!?) that will affect the future development of the story, so please listen carefully.)

英文メールのテーマは「新規ビジネスを模索する」。 ヨーロッパの富裕層への日本のワインの販売が中心です。 ロンドン本社のダニエルのリクエストに理沙はどう応えていくのか。テンポよくやりとりする中にちょっとしたパーソナルタッチを盛り込むスキルを、 ぜひ身につけてください。
(The theme of the English-language e-mail is “Explore new business.” Mainly selling Japanese wine to wealthy Europeans. How will Risa respond to Daniel’s request from the London head office? Make sure you learn the skills she has to incorporate a little personal touch into her fast-paced interactions.)

そして、今月のインタビューは、人事のプロフェッショナルとして活躍中のトム・メイズさんの後半です。 インテリジェンスを感じるきれいなブリティッシュ・イングリッシュも魅力ですが、 自己啓発にかかわるヒントも満載です。求められるリーダー、 グローバル人材、自己啓発、英語学習･･･いずれも皆さんのキャリアに役立つテーマですね。
(And this month’s interview is the second half of Mr. Tom Mays, who is active as a human resources professional. The beautiful British English that makes you feel intelligent is also attractive, but it is also full of hints related to self-development. スタジオ収録のときに驚いたのは、 メイズさんが、手持ちのメモはまったく見ていないにもかかわらず、 非常にロジカルに順序立てて話をされていたことです。普段話していることだから…と謙遜されていましたが、自分の考えが頭の中で整理されているとあのようにロジカルに話ができるのだ、と改めて思いました。
さあ、最近ちょっと息切れ気味という方も、残り3か月、一緒にゴールまで走りきりましょう!
(What surprised me during the studio recording was that Ms. Mays spoke in a very logical and orderly manner, even though she didn’t look at any of the notes she had on hand. I was humbled by the fact that it was something I usually talk about, but I realized once again that I can talk logically like that when my thoughts are organized in my head.
Come on, even if you’re feeling a little out of breath lately, let’s run to the finish line together for the remaining three months!)
