今回は、決まり文句を離れ、場面に即した褒め言葉を練習しましょう。
(This time, let’s move away from clichés and practice compliments that are appropriate for the situation.)
絵画教室で講師のボブと生徒のサリーが話をしています。 今回の画題は彼女の息子、ドリアンのようですよ。
(A teacher, Bob, and a student, Sally, are talking in a painting class. The subject of this painting seems to be her son, Dorian.)

「後ろに置けば説明となる」この単純なルールを身につければ、 英語力は格段に伸びていきます。

場面に即した褒め言葉は、単なる 「よくやった」 よりも一段と深い喜びを与えます。
このケースでは、相手の見違えるような上達を踏まえて、「お続けください」と述べています。

そのほかの、場面に即した相手が喜ぶ表現をいくつか覚えておきましょう。

improve 「上達する」。 get better 「よくなる」。
get the hang of -, 「~のコツをつかむ」

相手のよくなった点を具体的に述べるのも、もちろん大きな褒め言葉となりますよ。
